New bases reflect what American military has learned in decade of conflict
It absolutely matters how we got into these wars, and talk is paramount, not cheap. If we understand how it is we got in this mess, we can understand how to get out of them. I've offered several examples of how to defeat terrorism, namely, stop participating in it.
I'm not afraid, by the way, and as far as having lived a sheltered life, I was born and raised at one of the epicenters of the war on drugs, El Paso, TX. I've lived in South America, and speak both Spanish and Portuguese fluently. My education spans microbiology and chemistry, international business and computer network engineering. I read a book a week.
I am not a member of the armed forces, but my father volunteered for Marines in Vietnam, and his experience taught me a lot. I also attended a military academy in my youth. I learned that I don't want any part of relinquishing my rights as a human being so that corporations can raise their stock price a few points this quarter.
I know what confidence is, confidence is knowing that your government isn't always right, and that no matter what, it is your duty to keep it inline with the founding principles of liberty. The military does not keep us safe, it is used by the executive branch to impose the will of corporations, of that I'm confident.
If you'd prefer the personal opinion of someone that served in the armed forces, how about the most decorated Marine of all time, Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler. He wrote a pamphlet entitled 'War is a Racket". You ought to read it.
Hey jp-653910:
It does not matter anymore, how we got into this fiasco, fighting
a war on two fronts; we are in it, therefore, what have you and the
rest of the World Einstein's offered, beside complaining. I believe that
the authorities are doing the best that they can, with the time and
equipment that they have. In the future, if all of the World Einstein's
would have any valid ideas of how to better combat organized
terrorism, feel free to notify the authorities. It is one thing to complain,
but it is better to have a solution to your complaint, don't you think?
Talk is cheap, therefore I dislike my fellow-Americans, frothing-off-
at-the-mouth, condemning the systems that govern our way of life.
They are not perfect. People make mistakes. By-the-way, why are
you so afraid. You remind me of the story of "Chicken Little," who
thought that the sky was falling. You sound like a person whom
has led a very sheltered and insulated life. Are you a member or
former member of our Armed Forces? The American military teaches
its personnel one thing: CONFIDENCE. You my friend, need to peruse
your dictionary to fully understand what that word means. Gloom &
Doom is not in my vocabulary; how about yours?
